Paint Shop Manufacturing Engineer

This position will be responsible to:

Develop, implement and improve manufacturing painting processes for the new Paint Shop. Applying knowledge of product design, fabrication and paint materials, focusing on designated paint shop processes. Conferring with equipment and supply vendors. Performing a variety of complicated tasks relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

The ideal candidate will be required to and should possess those skills necessary to perform the following:

  • Develop manufacturing processes to assemble vans; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.

  • Assure process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing paint processes.

  • Budget planning and tracking, writing spec books; requests and evaluation of supplier quotations.

  • Manage projects; coordination of suppliers on and off site

  • Technical approval of large equipment/installations while planning with ergonomics in mind.

  • Takes part in continuous improvement process to optimize manufacturing efficiency, while developing planning standards, methods, and procedures.

Ideal candidate will possess:

  • Master's degree in an engineering position

  • Experience in an automotive paint shop

  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Methods (especially painting) procedures and process technology with presentation of technical information

  • Strong process engineering "LEAN" skill set

  • Proven written and verbal communication at all levels within the organization with good negotiation skills

  • Intercultural competencies to build productive work relationships

  • A good working knowledge of German language a strong positive

  • Experience in Pretreatment/E-coat systems is highly preferred

NOTE: In order to perform this role in our Ladson facility, the successful candidate will be required to make frequent business trips to Düsseldorf, Germany.
