Senior Energy Consumption Testing Engineer

Objectives of the Position
•Conduct testing on soon-to-be released vehicles to access energy/fuel consumption targets before production launch
•Use model based tools to simulate future vehicle energy consumption in support of fleet compliance planning
•Serve as a technical expert to the emissions and fuel economy certification team

Task description
•Develop and execute detailed test plans and schedules for vehicle chassis dyno testing.
•Analyze data, summarize results, and prepare technical reports and presentations.
•Define and procure test equipment required to achieve test objective.
•Develop test procedures to ensure constant processes are followed
•Develop analysis methods and tools for vehicle energy analysis
•Simulate future vehicle technologies using Matlab-Simulink based tools
•Build and maintain working relationship with RD Germany partners

Qualification required
•Education & Experience
-Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Vehicle Engineering or related field
-Comprehensive knowledge of chassis dyno and on-road energy consumption testing
-User level knowledge of automotive testing and data acquisition tools (INCA, etc.)
-Experience using Matlab-Simulink based simulation tools
-Demonstrated ability to create automated data analysis tools (Matlab, etc.)
-Experience with vehicle energy management systems including hybrid powertrains
-Ability to explain complex topics in a clear and concise manner to both technical and nontechnical audiences
-Desire to work in a diverse multicultural environment
•Preferred Qualifications
-Experience with automotive OEM or Tier supplier
-5+ years of relevant experience
-Knowledge of China emissions and energy consumption regulatory requirements
-Experience with emissions test equipment (bench analyzers, PEMS, etc.)
-Powertrain development experience
-German language skills
