Description of Autonomous Driving Development
At Daimler Trucks, a project house has been set up with the goal to create a market-ready Level 4 autonomous truck in the near future. This project house is an international collaboration with main activities at Mercedes Benz Trucks in Stuttgart, Germany and at Daimler Trucks North Amerika in Portland, USA.
Your Roles and Tasks
You will join the autonomous driving project house in Germany (Stuttgart area) for an approximately 3 year international assignment. After that, you return to Japan to help establish an autonomous driving team at MFTBC.
During the international assignment, you contribute to the project house by focusing on one or more of the following topics:
• Computer Vision
• Sensor Fusion
• Behavioral planning
• System design
• Functional Safety
In parallel, you will continuously monitor Japanese regulations, market trends and news related to autonomous driving to provide input to the project house on MFTBC and Japan-specific information and requirements.
Practical knowledge and experiences
Several years of experience in building intelligent (autonomous) systems, e.g. robots are mandatory.
Automotive know-how regarding sensors, actuators, control units or vehicle architecture is mandatory.
Personal skill requirement
Software engineering, software architecture and advanced programming skills in C/C++ are mandatory.
Leadership ability, for the purpose of establishing an autonomous driving team at MFTBC is mandatory.
