Job Overview

The Sales Operations Data Scientist will support quantitative data needs of the Mercedes-Benz passenger car sales through usage of sales and market-based data. A successful Sales Operations Data Scientist will e mploy mathematical science, computer science, and quantitative analysis skills to derive solutions to complex data problems and assist in the development and implementation of market-driven market support plans, strategies and tactics, consistent with the goals and objectives of Mercedes-Benz USA.

He or she will u se various techniques to display descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics. This analysis will be critical in planning and sales scenarios, and identifying trends and opportunities. This role will be responsible for advancing the analytic capabilities of the sales organization and developing new models for future use.

Advanced knowledge of analytics, data science and machine learning tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, Python, R, SQL, Power BI, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Access and Excel for Predictive and Prescriptive analytics will be required.


Responsibilities
- Support quantitative data needs of the passenger car sales organization in performing advanced analytics and predictive modeling
- Take various data sets from multiple sources with varying levels of complexity producing unified theories and analysis supported by data, and then communicate those findings to all layers of the organization
- Communicate with cross-functional teams to socialize data best practices

Education/Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree (accredited school) or equivalent years of experience with emphasis in:
- Computer/Information Science
- Engineering
- Information Technology
- Mathematics
- Management Information System (MIS)
- Statistics
- Data analytics training

Other Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of analytics & data science
- Knowledge of SQL required
- Knowledge of statistical programming languages such as Python or R required
- Experience in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, MicroStrategy
- Experience in data manipulation tools such as Alteryx, Knime, Trifacta not required but considered a plus
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure not required but considered a plus
- Previous automotive industry experience not required.
- Ability to work with and prioritize many simultaneous projects and deadline pressures
- High degree of computer proficiency required including advanced knowledge in excel and statistical methods


Must have 3+ years (total) of experience in the following:

Business – General: Knowledge of fundamental business practices and concepts that impact the success and profitability of the organization

Business Management: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, human resource management and efficiency and process methods

Finance: Knowledge and understanding of the implications of key financial indicators and controls and assessing impact of financial information

Processing: Knowledge of processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques in order to achieve maximum efficiency
